The 7th pick in the 1992 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, Walt
Williams, standing 6'8", nicknamed "The Wizard" by one of his
college coaches, Bob Wade, for passing and ball-handling skills, was
considered one of the most consistent 3-point shooters in the
league.  After retiring from the NBA, Walt served as one of the
commentators for Comcast  Sports PostGame show, analyzing the
Washington Wizards performance and conducting player interviews,
alongside Dave Branch and Glen Consor.
The Walt Williams Foundation was created
and founded by
Walt “WIZARD”  Williams, Jr.
in September 1999.   His  personal experience
with losing a family member to cancer motivated
him to start the Foundation.  Walt Williams Sr.
died October 13, 1992 after a short bout with
throat cancer.  He passed just a couple of weeks
before his son played in his first NBA game.

Walt Jr felt a strong desire to support families
affected by cancer.  He understands first-hand
the emotional and financial stress of seeing a love
one suffer from the disease.  He realized there is a
need to assist families, by providing financial
support, education and resources.

Walt Jr. also wanted to give back to the
community, by supporting and conducting
athletic, social and academic activities.
